Undergraduate Studies
The undergraduate studies program at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota prepares students to be leaders in a wide range of communications fields. As part of the College of Liberal Arts, the SJMC offers an outstanding undergraduate education one of three program tracks: professional journalism, strategic communication, and mass communication.
The SJMC is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). The School takes advantage of the Twin Cities’ metropolitan setting and and status as a major media market to enrich both classroom instruction and experiential learning opportunities, including internships.

Prospective Students: Each SJMC undergraduate program involves a rigorous course of study. Thus, the SJMC is one of the few deparments in the College of Liberal Arts which requires a secondary admissions process. Learn more about the admissions process.
