Study Area: There are tables, chairs, and a seating area for quiet study.
Thomas Heggen Collection: The Thomas Heggen Collection, located in 104 Murphy Hall, is named for Thomas Heggen (1919-1949). Heggen was a University of Minnesota alum and author of the novel, screenplay and Tony Award winning play “Mr. Roberts”. From 1939-1941, Thomas Heggen was a student and a writer at the Minnesota Daily.
The Heggen collection includes books on creative writing, literary journalism and collections of journalistic reporting and commentaries. All books in the Heggen collection are part of the University of Minnesota Libraries catalog. Books from the Heggen collection are available for loan, but must be paged by library staff. Requests for materials can be made to library staff. Books requested may take 1-3 days to become available for loan depending on staff and room availability.
